The President, Bill D’Alessandro, opened the meeting and led the pledge to the flag. Kit read the minutes from the Wantagh Fire Department meeting and the Babylon Village Fire Department meetings. Bill asked the attendees to make a motion to accept the minutes – the minutes were accepted. We had received a letter of thanks from the Terry Farrell Fund.

The treasurer, Barbara Connelly, reported that we have 104 paid members. If a company pays membership, that company can decide which member of their company can attend a meeting. Barbara read the names of the paid members in preparation for the drawing of two members to travel and attend the Spartan Motors classes. Spartan as agreed to reduce the registration fee for the winners of the drawing. The winners are Nassau Fire Apparatus and Brookhaven Fire District. N and A Auto Service was a winner and generously declined to allow another member to win.
The vice-president, Danny Peluso , reported that the Ford class in April was well attended and went well. He is waiting for the certificates and software they are sending. The GM class that was scheduled for tonight was cancelled – Danny will continue to look for another presenter from GM. Certificates were distributed to the members who attended the Weldon and the ESOP training.
Danny presented an excellent power point that dealt with lighting on emergency vehicles. The concentration of the members led to a thought provoking Q & A . Most related their own experiences trying to follow vehicles with distracting and even blinding lighting. Danny is in the process of dealing with quite of few of the industry manufacturers to arrange training classes.
Barbara asked about sending something from the association to members who have experienced an illness or some mishap. A motion was made to designate Barbara as SUNSHINE GIRL. The president approved and Joe Daniele seconded. The motion passed. A raffle was held with donations from Fire News and N & A.
The next meeting will be held at the Coram Fire Department on Thursday, June 27.
Joe Kicinski accepted a framed certificate from Bill D’Alessandro on behalf of the Westbury Board of Fire Commissioners . The meeting was adjourned.
