Meeting Reports The regular meeting of LIEVT was held at the Wantagh Fire Department on June 29, 2015. Wantagh fire fighters Dave Goetz and Larry Diaz manned the barbeque. Parker Browne generously provided the ingredients for the large group of attendees.

The president, Bill D’Alessandro, opened the meeting. He led a pledge to the flag and asked for a minute of silence to remember our deceased members and our military. He asked Kit to postpone reading the minutes of the last meeting.

There was a lot to cover at the meeting.

Bill introduced Steve Schuman and his son, Steve, Jr. Their newly acquired Draft Commander 3000 mobile pump testing trailer was on display. They showed an interesting power point and talked about the advantages of testing the pumps at the fire station causing no downtime.

Parker Browne of Trident Emergency Products showed the Trident Air Prime which utilizes air supplied from the chassis air brake compressor to operate the pump primer. He showed different models and had a very interesting power point.

The vice-president, Danny Peluso, talked about the upcoming multiplex system class which will be available to small groups.

Danny talked about the training that is planned for the coming season.

  • At the evening meeting on September 16, the whys of lighting and an overview of LED lighting will be discussed.
  • On September 22 there will be a Snap-On class.
  • Kussmaul will have a day class in October and
  • FRC will have a day class in the fall.
  • Two full days Sunday, October 26 and Monday, October 27 will be devoted to Waterous Pump. They will bring their roll out pump system. Joe from Westbury has volunteered to host the meeting.
  • In November there will be an evening NAPA brake class. There will be an ASE prep prior to the brake class.
Danny asked the group if they had any requests for training. He then discussed the possibility of a fund raiser on a Sunday morning or a weeknight for the organization.

Many of our members reported getting their AC certificates in the mail.

Tom Rinelli of the New England Fire Equipment & Apparatus Corp discussed the purchase by Smeal of American La France and LTI. The Pennsylvania plant of LTI has reopened. The people have been hired back. They will do refurbishing as well as new sales, parts and repairs.

Danny presented a framed certificate of recognition to Commissioner Dave Sponton.

The president had a cake and candles for the treasurer’s (Barbara Connelly) birthday.

He presented plaques to the Wantagh Fire Department and Parker Browne.
