The president asked Kit to read the minutes from the last meeting at the Seaford Fire Department - they were approved and accepted.
Barbara Connelly, the treasurer, distributed LIEVT jackets and backpacks to the members who had not received them. She presented our past president, Bill D'Alessandro with a plaque and gift in recognition of his service to the organization. She gave our webmaster, Nate Berry a thank you gift from the group.
The president introduced David Gindlesperger of Akron Brass to let our members get to know their new SAM system. David described SAM, a pump control system, what it does, and how it works. In a nutshell it promises to simplify pump operation and manages the Hale pump through control of integrated Akron electric valves as well as providing engine information and warnings. David brought a demo tabletop system with the three main pump panel components: a larger "control center" touch display, a smaller "pump controller" governor display, and the separate "twister" (an electronic throttle). He fielded a lot of questions about function, operation, service, and cost from the membership. There was a lot of excitement when he mentioned IDEX's stated plans to bring pump manufacturing back to the states possibly as soon as September of this year.
The president presented David Gindlesperger and the Wantagh Board of Fire Commissioners with framed certificates of appreciation.
The officers and members surprised Barbara Connelly with a birthday cake, a card signed by the members and balloons.
A raffle followed with a donation from Coastal Fire Systems.
