Meeting Reports LIEVT had the first regular meeting of the year at the Copiague Fire District on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 More than sixty members were in attendance. They enjoyed an excellent dinner and dessert. The president, Bill D’Alessandro, opened the meeting with a pledge to the flag and a moment of silence for our departed members and the troops overseas.

Bill asked Kit to read the minutes of the last meeting in Hauppauge. She had not attended the meeting and said there were no minutes. It had snowed and only a handful of members attended – there was no speaker so the meeting was called.

Bill introduced Micah Schecter of Matco Tools. Members may remember him from his talk at the March 2017 meeting. He spoke at length and used an excellent power point to demonstrate their new equipment that scans and monitors transmissions, engines and ABS systems. The members enjoyed an excellent q and a session.

The annual election of officers should have been held at the November meeting which was called but were held at this meeting. Bill D’Alessandro told us he was overcommitted and could not run again. The newly elected officers are President John Manetta of the Copiague Fire District and Vice President Tarren Kearns of the Westbury Fire. The treasurer, Barbara Connelly was reelected as was the secretary, Kit Cafaro. Their terms will start on January 1, 2019.

The president introduced Colin Chambless and Brian Cassell of Kusmaul. They queried our members on suggestions for improving their products and needs for new products. Certificates were distributed for classes the members attended. Barbara talked about the jackets members never picked up and told new members the names could be changed on those or how to order a new one.

Barbara and the members who attended talked about the FDSOA meeting. A nice tribute was paid there to our Danny Peluso, our Vice President who passed away last year. A scholarship in his name was talked about. Our members were asked for suggestions.

Pictures from this meeting can be seen in the Gallery. A raffle followed with generous gifts from discussed. Our members were asked for suggestions. Steve Schuman of Waterway and Richie Partridge of RVI. The next meeting will be held on February 28 at the West Islip Fire Department. Carl Harr will discuss Liquid Spring Suspension.
